The multi-year ‘talent’ residence permit (known as ‘passeport talent’ until June 2025) covers entrepreneurial and innovative projects in France. Decree no. 2025-539 consolidated six former grounds into two categories; founders and entrepreneurs use ‘talent – porteur de projet’.

Talent – porteur de projet: innovative project

This category supports a project in France that has been recognised as innovative by an authorised public body. Selection through a recognised organisation under the French Tech Visa programme can simplify the process, but French Tech Visa is a programme label rather than a separate immigration status.

    The review requires concrete information about what has been built, how it differs and how it works for the user.

How do the innovative-project and business-creation routes differ?

The first depends on a recognised innovative project and a French host. The second requires separate analysis of the business plan, resources, commercial credibility and the founder's active role.

Do I need an operating French company before the first consultation?

No. For the conversation, describe the project, your role, available resources and intended model. We then identify which route merits deeper testing and what documentation will be needed.

Can France be compared with the United Kingdom or United States?

Yes. We compare the criteria, eventual status, timing, dependence on employment or business and the position of the family. A preferred country does not determine the recommendation by itself.
