Applications affected by the change
The official list includes Appendix KoLL, Skilled Worker, Global Talent, Scale-up, Innovator Founder, UK Ancestry and other routes. The rule applies to applications made from 26 March 2027.
What to check in earlier language evidence
A document used to prove B1 on entry does not necessarily prove B2 at the settlement stage. Check the level recorded in the degree, test or other permitted evidence well in advance.
A practical timetable
We recommend checking the basis of the language evidence before the final year on the route. If a new test is needed, the applicant then has time to choose an approved examination, prepare and obtain the result without putting the filing date at risk.
